That's something I considered too, being an animator and all haha. Other ideas on the list are having the character busts change expression just a bit (not quite a full animation, though) or fully rendered artwork for each one instead of the flat colors like here. At the very least they're going to need to be cel shaded.
2022-01-12 12:30:33 +0000 UTCI like it but probably something to throw on the "to-do" list is I think it would be neat if these dialog portraits had idle animations instead of being still images. Breathing, blinking, etc.
