I had one of the best times I've ever had filming a dead mall today. The new owners of Power Square Mall reached out to me and asked me to come and film it. Something like this very rarely happens. The new owners are going to be converting it into a art school. They've already started by converting the mall's old VF Factory outlet anchor into temporary classrooms. I'm very thankful that the new owners recognize how important it is to document places like this. On the rare occasions I have permission to film a mall I'm able to get much better footage and pictures. The Mall will be closing at the end of the month so they can complete the process of renovating it into a school. It's unfortunate that the mall is closing but it really was inevitable with this one. The good news is the building is being reused instead of being demolished and wasted. They also plan on keeping a lot of stuff like all the old coin-op rides. Becoming an art school is a much more dignified ending than a lot of malls get. I should have a video out covering the end of Power Square Mall in about a week. Until then here's some pictures I took today.
