It takes a skilled climber and expert survivalist to survive Flowcliff, where countless mile-high-and-wide rock faces are often characterized by enormous waterfalls atop them, whitewater rapids beneath them, and gargantuan reptilian creatures roaming about by land, air, and water.
Keen-eyed and steel-hearted travelers who brave the region can oft see ruins of an immense, overgrown aqueduct, supposedly created by an ancient people who had the means to morph the earth as they pleased.

Two entries in the diary of Arcanobiologist Finch Walkwell:

Saurozoic Expedition 3, Day 192
I was rather low today about my experiments and observations.
I am at work on the third vol. of the Saurozoic pedias, of which creatures I am wonderfully tired. I hate the amargasaurus as no person ever did before and if I look at another I should vomit.
That is to say, my observations of their interactions with the reputedly enchanted lake has proved rumors of magically transformative properties on the region’s dinosaurs monotonously false. I have decided to endure another week before returning home.

Saurozoic Expedition 3, Day 195
By the tomes, it happened!
At the hands of a band of adventurers (whom I since have forgiven for causing a tyranosaur to trample my campsite), I witnessed firsthand the casting of magicks by an amargasaurus. The implications of this are astounding—both in regards to the arcane evolution of these creatures and what I hypothesize to be the draconic ancestry that lies dormant in them, and thus possibly all creatures of the region.
I shall abridge an account of the event here:
To capture the attention of the amargasaurus, the slith fellow called Raxl swam beneath it as it waded through the river's shallows, expertly swimming as prey himself as a diversion—and against his own judgment—and also uttering several expletives I had never heard. Meanwhile, one gnome of the group, called Olgur, swam to the creature from the opposite side, climbing upon the creature to antagonize it further. It is worth noting that he did this with an abandon for his own safety that would insinuate he had likely done this before.
When the creature began to thrash about in the water, the notably shy dragonborn called Aloria flew forth by her own impressive capabilities, which I believe was the key to this experiment: the creature’s perception of a clearly draconic creature.
She flew above the amargasaurus and blew forth her poisonous dragonbreath in its view. It was then that the creature responded in kind, breathing forth an immense bolt of lightning directly at her.
Nisk, the human cleric who created this simple and odd plan, was prepared for such a response, having readied their own abjurative spell for whomever would receive the brunt of the amargasaurus’s response. I was struck at the straightforwardness of the scheme.
Upon the lightning breath and the checking upon Aloria (who was unharmed—note to inquire about the nature of Nisk’s divine magicks), the group retreated and regrouped. At this, I have invited the party to accompany me back to the university to help me further and I humbly await their answer.
The work has ultimately not turned out badly, despite my need for a new tent.
