Additional tidbit of info. Beau Billingslea, the voice actor for Barrett in Advent Children (also Jet in Cowboy Bebop), confirmed on Twitter that he did not voice Barrett in the remake trailer. So I'm wondering if they re-cast all of the characters given that at least one of them was replaced and they all sound different.

How difficult do you think it is to strike a balance in a game remake between expanding what can be done with it and being true to its original form. Compare SotC to FFVII, Shadow is almost exactly the same (despite being rebuilt from the ground up) but with completely modernized graphics whereas FFVII has completely remade its systems into an action RPG. Is it just a matter of catching the right tone or is there more to where you can draw the lines? Medievil has been remade 3 times, once on the PSP, once as a fan-made skyrim mod and the upcoming release on the PS4. The PSP version utterly failed to retain the character and tone of the original when it was 'expanded' and the new version seems to be perhaps overcompensating for this as it just looks almost identical to the original but with just far better graphics. The Skyrim mod however completely re-imagined the original within the confines of Skyrim assets and gameplay yet I feel it perfectly captured the 'feel' of the original despite its massive changes. There may be no 'right' way to do a remake but I think capturing the tone is most pivotal to the success. (^Feel free to translate this whole mess into better English. It does also pretty much answer the first half in the second so it is more a conversational direction than a direct question.)

Do you think the anime style designs work with the more realistic graphics? I wouldn’t have minded seeing a more cartoony look...or maybe something heavily stylized like the Spiderverse movie. Somehow a straightforward approach to rendering Nomura’s designs in 3D seems a bit weird.

If you end up comparing the models from the 2015 PSX trailer to the new 2019 Trailer, this video will probably be helpful to you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyCOqwheV7g Especially for The Shinra Soldiers and Cloud. Those seem like the biggest changes.
