Someday Night Crawl - Patron Submissions for July!
Added 2020-07-18 21:01:42 +0000 UTCFor those who missed the boat, we'll be holding monthly patron-exclusive votes to decide on monsters and traps to use against the party in Someday Night Crawl. More details can be found in this post. We're now ready to vote on the first round of pitches! Here are the sponsored monster concepts you can choose from this month:
- Crystalline Cluster: An intelligent (though immobile) crystalline cluster that can summon creatures to defend itself when threatened.
- Business Vampire: One of our junior associates who made the mistake of "asking" to be made a partner. Enjoy watching one of our resident vampires outfitted with the most cost effective armor we could find pursue his new line of work. Special attack - I'm sure the audience would love a good fireworks show and we can't allow one of our associates to go without a gift, preferably one that can be remotely detonated from one of the luxury boxes. General looks - I always enjoyed the idea of placing monsters and the like in modern day society and corporate vampire (suit and tie businessman) is a personal favorite. And the idea of removing all of the cool factor by placing it in what is essentially a cardboard iron man suit is funny to me and seems fitting for boffer league.
- The Talmid: Ink Elementals are rare water-adjacent elementals created from the wayward magic of dead krakens, and their Djinn counterparts are known as the Talmid (the name comes from the Hebrew word for “scholar”). Talmidim are known for their thirst for knowledge and their large collections of ancient lore, which they often make use of for combating possible thieves. Talmidim tend to look like ink that has taken a vaguely humanoid form, with glowing eyes of various colors. Most Talmidim are seen wearing elaborate robes, and sometimes various jewelry. Possible special attacks: A sort of “ink-grapple”, using the magic scrolls hidden within their body, and taking ink from their scrolls and adding it to their mass.
- Pocket Monster Swarm: Small cicada like fae that make their homes in pockets, satchels, backpacks, and occasionally socks and shoes. They are generally considered a pest as they will bite and sting any hands that enter pockets. When swarms form, they will form groups of 150 individuals and will attempt to overwhelm their targets with bites and stings in search for pocketed homes. Thankfully they have a short life span of a couple of weeks, but in five years or so a new generation of Pocket Monster will emerge and begin the cycle anew.

You know not gonna lie I would love to see each one of these fleshed out in an actual campaign but that business vampire just makes me chortle too much that I gotta pick it
