It's not the same of course, but if you haven't seen Midnight Run, you may want to check it out some day. It's Robert DeNiro (when he was younger and still worth watching!) and comedy actor Charles Grodin (you may know him as the Dad from Beethoven) and has a different premise but similar set-up in that it's two guys who don't know each other but get thrown together on the road, trying to get to their destination on a shoestring, and by the end develop a grudging friendship. It's a minor classic.

There aren’t a whole lot of Thanksgiving films, which makes this one kind of rare but Home For The Holidays probably deserves a mention. I only saw it for the first time a few years ago but it’s wonderful and absolutely worth a look. Most of the great Steve Martin comedies have already been mentioned but I’ll add Bowfinger to the list, which I watched again recently and it holds up. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is also hilarious. Parenthood is one of Ron Howard’s best movies. The Man With Two Brains might also be worth a look. And one no one ever mentions is The Spanish Prisoner which isn’t a comedy but has a great Steve Martin performance at its center and a brilliant script by the playwright David Mamet.
