Brandon likes men. He's only ever liked men. Later in the series he and Freya become absolute besties. They have a lot in common! Both UTF veterans. Combat veterans even. And both of them love a variety of partners- while having a loving stable girlfriend / boyfriend at home. Well.

Let's turn the clock forward in Freya's timeline. She's found herself.... drifting from binary. A different relationship with her femininity. It sits alongside a masculine heart. And sweeps through it- around it, between it. A gender superposition. The easiest way she can explain this is, "She/They/He"

Of course she tells her best friend. Who, after years of holding a secret back, breaths a sigh of relief, "Thank fuck, Effie. I was worried I had straight thoughts about you?"

A string of partners over the years and for the first time Freya finds one who treats them like a man. And finds gay sex agrees with them.
