We're hiring a Course Writer. If you know anyone who loves to learn new things and help explain them in concise ways to other people, please send them our way. They'll be collaborating with product builders and instructional designers. This opportunity pays $33 to $43 an hour and we're looking for anywhere from 20 to 40 hours a week.

We're a small, fully distributed team of 3. 2 of us are on the west coast and one on the east coast. We're engineers, designers, and instructional designers who love the process of learning and helping people become even better versions of themselves.

Our bite-sized, interactive courses teach these skills with short, fun sessions you can do from your phone. Our courses will help you make better decisions, build stronger relationships and perform better. We're building a new learning experience designed specifically for continuous learning on mobile that helps people get a little better every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
The core responsibility of this role is to do hands-on work writing courses. You'd work closely with our Instructional Designers to take lesson plans and curated research and turn it into the written content that goes alongside interactive exercises and other media inside our courses.
Our courses are a mix of based on the very best ideas we find in research and direct partnerships with subject matter experts. We work with these different sources and turn them into a course using text, visuals, interactive, and post-course activities that help people retain and apply new tactics, strategies, and mental models. We sometimes may even include short audio and video pieces.
THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:
- Write course content based on lesson plans our instructional designers produce.
- Collaborate with our instructional designers to ensure we're producing the best possible version of a given course.
- Help set the guidelines we use for our written content.
- Push our internal “Course Builder” tool to the max and help us understand what features we can add to unlock further creativity and production speed.
- Be part of building our team's culture and processes: how we do work, why we do it that way, how we can improve.
YOUR TECHNICAL SKILL SET
- Experience writing and editing, professionally or recreationally. Either way, you must be obsessive about clear writing and thinking and have spent a lot of time practicing this discipline.
- Ability to structure information in a clear and engaging way. You can consume, understand, and break down large topics into smaller pieces that are properly sequenced and are easily understood by a specific target audience.
- You can write content that is concise and educational but also relatable and fun.

- We are a remote company. We’re happy to work with excellent people in all North American time zones. The current team is split between the west and east coasts.
- We are open to part-time and full-time hours.
- This is a contract role.
