I am still taking pitches. LGBTQ+-minded cultural coverage is my meat-and-potatoes but political/health coverage "during these unprecedented times" would be great. Email art show heck yeah [at] g mail [dot] com with clips and a full pitch.
I'll also mention a couple things about our editorial process:
1. There is one! Your work will be closely edited, as well as fact-checked! Even during a pandemic. If you're not used to writing for publication, you may be uncomfortable! That's often what learning feels like.
2. Pitches count! They establish not only subject matter, approach, and scope of the piece, but also your voice! So sometimes there is a process for those too. Pitches are important! People who work later down the line of publication can read them and prepare for your work.
(I prefer a paragraph of at least five sentences in the tone you intend to write the final in.)
3. Editors are real people! We've all done exactly what you're trying to do right now. Be kind, professional, inquisitive, and honest—especially if you need help with something—and we will do everything we can to support you.
Fees are worked out on an individual basis based only on an approved pitch, but start at $250.
