CURRENT PARTNERSHIP
Sacred Writes is now accepting applications from scholars for up to three funded writing fellowships with Sojourners. Applicants must have graduate level training in religious studies, theology, biblical studies, or a related field. The deadline for applications is 1 June 2020.
SCOPE
The goal of this partnership is to develop, support, and amplify emerging, diverse voices writing about religion and social justice for the public. Sojourners is particularly interested in scholars whose work interacts with the Christian tradition, and who have expertise in areas such as (but not limited to) biblical studies, race, gender, disability, and climate justice. This fellowship is open to faculty, independent scholars, and graduate students.
Sojourners will host up to three fellowships. The scholars selected will produce two articles in the areas of their expertise, ranging from 500-2000 words, between 1 July 2020 and 1 December 2020. Articles can take on a variety of forms, including analysis, creative criticism, opinion, and heavily researched reporting. Scholars selected will work with Sojourners editors to refine their article ideas and make revisions. Associate Editor Daniel José Camacho will coordinate mentoring for all scholars.
Sacred Writes will provide a $1500 stipend for each scholar partnered with Sojourners.
