We are currently seeking smart, original, short essays (< 1500 words) from members of the music community that address their current pandemic quarantine situation.
If you are an:
- Arts Administrator
- Composer
- Conductor
- Curator
- Fundraiser
- Performer
- Sound engineer/AV Tech
- Stagehand
- Teacher
We would like to hear about how you are managing/moving through this extraordinary and challenging time. We are especially interested in articles that illuminate new or strangely successful ways of working together that you have discovered during this period. Or, newly-identified artistic results of a stimulating nature.
We are deeply committed to highlighting new music communities across the United States and encourages contributors to write about the vibrancy of their local scene.
Thoughtful critiques, solid analyses, with emphasis on real actions/ideas/tips with takeaway value catch our attention more than promotional material or opinion pieces. And we’re particularly interested in writers whose experiences and opinions are underrepresented in the media.
To pitch your essay or idea, please email us.
We pay writers a range of fees for articles, anywhere from $100 to $400 depending on the depth and scope of the content. In some rare cases we’ve even paid more than that. I wish we could do that all the time but we have an extremely tight budget.
