We updated the freelance story pitch guidelines. If you want to run down a theory, report out an oral history, investigate a problem, or spin a yarn, here’s the where and how and who.
Rates: You could say $.50 a word, but may vary based on a conversation with the editor and what other story elements you are bringing to the table (original photos, audio, video), as well as the relative value of those words. A 4k oral history is not the same as 2k investigative report.
