We are always looking for good pitches! Re-upping these guidelines from earlier this year.
In the midst of a chaotic news cycle, are you wondering whether there is room for your food-focused story to exist in the world? The answer is, simply, emphatically, yes.
A FEW GUIDELINES:
First, these are our evergreen pitch guidelines, which could use a bit of updating, but which I've found to be quite helpful in defining what we're looking for overall.
It may seem like some news items (see: storming the Capitol) steal the oxygen from the ability to tell more sedate, thoughtful stories, or anything unrelated to the hot-topic-du-jour. Never fear! Plenty of appetite remains for smart journalism on a range of issues.
So please, pitch away. We always respond, even if it takes a little bit (please indicate in subject if a pitch is time-sensitive).
Our rates vary by level experience and difficulty of assignment—and are higher for writers we've worked with before—but are generally quite competitive!
