Sequential Potential Comics (SPC) creates custom comic art and illustrations to translate the complex processes and outcomes of research and technology for non-specialist audiences. Employees work on exciting and fun projects, develop new art skills, build their personal art portfolios, and work with a team to communicate scientific findings to public audiences.

We are searching for a comic script writer. Pay is $200 per comic page, including proposed layouts. Most comics we sell are 4-8 pages, so a full script would range from $800-1600. Key responsibilities include:

Work with the Creative Director and Project Manager to understand the scripting needs of a new comic project.
Write full comic scripts that include character descriptions, dialogue, and panel layouts to fit the story needs of our client.
Because we work with researchers from a broad range of disciplines, there is an expectation that the script writer will need to do their own research for new projects to present story details accurately.
Communicate progress with PM and submit script drafts on schedule

The ideal candidate will have experience and skills in the following areas:

Experience writing scripts for visual media (especially comics, but we'll also consider scripting for theater, television, YouTube, etc.)
A love of comics, and an understanding of how comic layouts contribute to a story
Ideally, some artistic skill and experience (Scripts do not require thumbnails, but it can be helpful when conveying what is going on in a particular panel to our artists)
Confident communication abilities, especially in conveying complex research in an understandable, entertaining way.
Problem solving and ability to meet deadlines consistently
