The Herbal Academy is dedicated to developing in-depth, affordable online education of the highest quality to help people around the world learn about the beauty and power of plants. Among our offerings is The Herbarium, an online subscription-based membership site packed with articles, intensive short courses, videos, podcasts, and an extensive and continually expanding plant monograph collection.

As our readership grows, we seek to expand our contributing writing team to produce a wide variety of herbal content for The Herbarium. Our hardworking team is highly collaborative, professional, knowledgeable, and united in a joyful mission to support and inspire readers in their continuing herbal studies.

We invite experienced herbalists with stellar writing abilities and/or ability to create engaging video presentations/lectures to become contributors to The Herbarium. Along with a genuine love of plants and herbal topics, applicants are required to have a formal education in herbalism or extensive practical experience. Clinical training and experience and/or advanced level knowledge is preferred.

We are actively seeking to grow our team of contributors and expertise as we expand the range of topics and offerings in The Herbarium. Topics depend on the expertise and experience of the contributor, and may include (but are not limited to!):

Family herbalism topics
Community herbalism
Clinical herbalism and case studies
Herbal traditions in world cultures
Herbalism for the spirit
Herbal history
Ethnobotany
Gardening
Plant monographs

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Strong herbal background, 3-5 years of formal training and study and/or in-depth practical experience
Professional writing background or experience and/or ability to create video presentations required
Experience with teaching on topics related to the practice of herbalism
Experience teaching and writing about folk herbal traditions is a plus
Experience interpreting and writing about scientific research is a plus
Respectful of deadlines
Responsible and prompt communicator
Open to constructive feedback and instructions from editors
Able to follow established editorial guidelines including adherence to the APA referencing and citation style
Excellent computer skills, comfortable with Google Docs and MS Word
