In this role, you will collaborate with the SEO team to understand the problems today’s consumers face about their education, job, and career development. You will perform extensive research and collect factual information to provide the best answers and guidance. You will also learn and apply SEO best practices so that your stories will be discovered easily in popular search engines. After publishing, you will monitor the performance of each article and make necessary refinements to grow readership.

REQUIRED: Please submit three examples of your recent work.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write engaging stories that empathize with readers and inspire them to take action
• Conduct your own research and leverage insights from our internal research and analytics to build your stories
• Collaborate with the SEO team and use available tools to identify keywords that support your stories and improve discoverability of the articles in search engines
• Write in the Coursera brand voice
• Leverage insights from analytics to improve the reader experience and grow readership by optimizing new and existing content
• Work on a wide range of subjects within education and career development, mostly in-depth long-form articles but also shorter articles as needed

YOUR SKILLS:

• Professional experience as a writer or journalist. Plus if you have published articles in education and/or career development space
• Understanding of how to optimize content for rank and engagement (or enthusiasm for learning)
• Ability to demonstrate range, precision, and clarity as you write for various types of audiences at different stages of their lives
• Enthusiasm to learn about new education and career topics, identify relevant sources, and pass your learnings on to others
• Ability to simplify complex ideas to educate readers and help them make career decisions
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and deliver polished writing on time with minimal direction
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and receive constructive feedback
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style
