We are looking for part-time/freelance writers to join our growing team.

Our company, Words Have Impact, helps clients develop, produce, and manage their content and messaging. Many of these clients have a strong need to educate their customers and offer value through the written word; we help them do just that.

We especially have a need for writers that are comfortable producing content around topics in engineering, manufacturing, and heavy industry. These would not be technical papers or manuals per se; rather, they would be marketing pieces written for manufacturers, explaining detailed technical concepts in an audience-appropriate way. We also have a need for people comfortable writing about software and technology.

A “GOOD FIT” CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

Excellent writing skills, especially when it comes to corporate blogs and white papers
An uncanny ability to receive (and give) feedback with professionalism and grace
Good research abilities
Knowledge of how to write for SEO
A love for getting into the “nitty gritty details” of a process or product
A knack for, and comfort with, asking questions
Ability to manage (and hit) multiple deadlines
Willingness to adhere to our Code of Standards

Though we will consider applicants from anywhere in the U.S., we will give extra consideration to writers who are local (St. Louis metropolitan area).

We prefer to pay by the piece/project and have been known to give bonuses for excellent ongoing work. Future promotion to full-time status is possible for interested candidates.

WHAT ITS LIKE TO WORK WITH US

Even though all of our writers are freelancers/self-employed, we work hard to maintain a strong company culture and support system. For example, we offer free workshops and training to all writers, company happy hours, opportunities to pursue side projects, etc. We want all of our freelancers to produce high quality work and, ultimately, be successful.

If you receive an offer, but wish to speak with a recent hire about what it is like to work for us before making a commitment, we can make that arrangement.

We will make every effort to review applications in a timely manner and invite top applicants for a brief 20-minute interview. If you are unsure about the status of your application, you can reach out to us after one week.)
If you are chosen for the next step, we will have you sign our standard non-disclosure/non-compete agreement (ND/NCA). We ask that you sign this within 7 business days, or else approach us with any questions.
All writers who sign the ND/NCA will get up to two pilot projects (paid, of course!). In our experience, this is enough for both parties to determine if the “fit” is there.'
