Added 2023-01-19 14:56:54 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: LAYERED BUTTER
We’re looking for writers to fill out our next issues! Our issues are themed around directors or genres, which aren't public knowledge yet. However for strong pitches we can find a home for them on the website if they don't fit the issue's theme. Depending on the article, rates are between about $100-$500 USD. SUBMISSIONS
Layered Butter is committed to publishing insightful and engaging works for both established and emerging writers, journalists, and critics. We are currently accepting submissions for our website and physical/digital publication.
Each issue is built around a particular abstract theme/genre/director/actor, and we open up the submission process for each new issue 2-3 months in advance of the submission deadline. However, we are also now accepting general pitches and submissions (off-theme) for consideration.
Regarding the kind of submissions we strive to publish, here is a list of what we are NOT looking for:
- Movie reviews
- Clickbait listicles
- Contrarian hot takes
- Works that have been previously published (you know, for legal reasons).
We’re open to other aspects of formal analysis and cultural criticism, interviews, essays, etc. No pitch is too absurd. Our essays and criticism works tend to be between 1000-2000 words, though we are open to longer pieces. Layered Butter is meant to be a community that encourages collaboration.
If possible, please include samples of previous work.
Pay depends on the article between about $100-$500 USD.
