Pitches wanted from LGTBQIA+ Journalists (Southeast Asia/MENA) | $350 day rate

Ankur Paliwal, Guest Editor at CNN, is looking for pitches:

I am looking for strong pitches from Southeast Asia and MENA region for “Beyond the Binary”, a mini series of stories I am editing/producing for CNN’s As Equals project: https://edition.cnn.com/interactive/asequals/

The series will have deeply reported, character led stories documenting what it means to live as a trans, intersex or non-binary person in the global south, and how do these identities collide with broader systems such as healthcare, housing, migration, education and employment.

Because it's a short series, only one or two pitches will be selected from Southeast Asia/MENA region. On average, each story will be between 2,000-2,500 words long. The selected journalists will be paid a day rate of US$350.

The number of days can be figured out based on the complexity of the story. The journalists should be able to report these stories between May and early June. Journalists from the LGBTQIA+ community will be preferred.
