That's No Moon is an independent AAA game development studio established in 2021 by veterans of some of the most recognizable and critically acclaimed creative teams in the world, including Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Santa Monica Studio, Bungie, PlayStation, and more. A remote-friendly studio with a central office and performance capture stage located in Los Angeles, That's No Moon is creating the next generation of narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences built upon a culture of creativity, collaboration, responsible production practices, and individual empowerment. We are assembling a diverse team of passionate developers of a wide range of experience levels and backgrounds to help shape the future of our studio and projects.

We are looking for a Writer to help realize the dialogue, characters and world of our upcoming AAA third-person action-adventure game. The ideal candidate has experience developing compelling characters and stories in a team environment.

As part of the application process, candidates may be asked to complete a writing test.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and write cinematic scripts, in-game dialog and supporting documentation.
• Support environmental storytelling, systemic dialogue and in-game text from ideation through to execution.
• Collaborate with other writers, directors, designers and artists to develop an interactive, cinematic narrative built on a foundation of story structure and craft.
• Support environmental storytelling, systemic dialogue and in-game text from ideation through to execution.
• Research and collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure all grounded, real-world aspects of the story, characters, and world are represented with empathy and authenticity.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:

• Previous professional work as a writer for video games, film, television or other related media is mandatory.
• Experience collaborating in a team setting such as a writers' room.

QUALITIES:

• The ability to take and deliver feedback and constructive criticism.
• Self-directed and comfortable working and delivering in a dynamic and fast-paced creative environment.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

REQUIRED FOR SUBMITTAL:

• Please submit up to three samples that demonstrate your ability to write character and dialogue. At least one must be in screenplay format. Applicable video links are welcomed but please detail your direct contribution to the material.

TNM considers a number of factors when determining each role's base pay range, including industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other job specific skills. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S.
