Native American history cannot be compressed to a single story. It’s hundreds of cultures, from Algonquin to Zuni. Hundreds of languages, from Navajo to Nuxalk. Thousands of miles, from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego. And it covers tens of thousands of years—from the last Ice Age to the present. We're looking for a writer who, with the help of Indigenous experts, can guide our viewers on a journey of knowledge as we explore connections between the past and present, surveying the ongoing history of Native peoples in the United States.

At Complexly, we make videos that help our audiences develop a nuanced and complex view of the world around us. Crash Course, one of our most renowned channels, invites students, teachers, and lifelong learners to understand subjects they might have had trouble with or are curious to comprehend more.

As a freelance script writer, you'll work with a a broad team including editors, fact checkers, and subject matter experts. Every script you write should be accurate and engaging for our audience. Ideally, you have a passion for Native American history and culture and want to share excitement over the subject with a broad audience.

• Pay: $800 per script, averaging $800-$3,200 per month

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a freelance script writer, you'll work with a broad team, including editors, fact-checkers, and subject matter experts. Every script you write should be accurate and engaging for our audience. Ideally, you have a passion for Native American history and culture and want to share excitement over the subject with a broad audience.
