Pitches wanted (reproductive, voting, LGBTQ+ issues) | $350 to $500 per article
Added 2024-05-13 17:38:02 +0000 UTCCOMPANY/PUBLICATION: REWIRE NEWS GROUP
Natasha Roy, Editor at Rewire News Group, is looking for pitches:
I am once again calling for pitches for Rewire News Group's Campus Dispatch series, where a college student/recent grad writes an op-ed or reported story for us about how repro rights, LGBTQ+ issues, voting rights, and more affect themselves, their campuses, and/or their peers.
I’m accepting pitches for op-eds ($350) or reported stories ($500). PLEASE make sure you check out our current stories to get a feel for what we’re looking for before pitching. Send pitches to roy.natasha@rewirenewsgroup.com
Answers to a couple FAQs:
You do not have to currently be in college, but we are prioritizing Gen Z writers
We are mostly focused on U.S. policy issues
I'm accepting on a rolling basis, but we only publish one Campus Dispatch piece a month and have the next handful set already, so sooner is definitely better than later!

TO HELP YOU CRAFT YOUR PITCH:
Learn more about the publication: Rewire News Group is a nonprofit media organization and the only national publication exclusively dedicated to reporting on reproductive and sexual health, rights, and justice. It is a newsroom that speaks unapologetically and with an inclusive point of view about sex, abortion, parenthood and power. More information here.
Read through a selection of recent Campus Dispatch pieces on its website.
Review the submission guidelines here. Note that these are the publication's general guidelines to help you refine your pitch. You must still follow the editor's specific instructions above.
Check out our collection of pitch excerpts on this page and find more sample pitches at The Open Notebook and at SuccessfulPitches.com.
Do not forget to end your pitch with (1) a short introduction about yourself; (2) a few lines highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits; and (3) links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.
