WordWorks is looking for article pitches for our spring 2025 issue: Level Up! We’re celebrating the discipline, determination, and (sometimes) courage it takes to move our writing to the next level. The deadline for pitches is Nov. 8 at 11:59 pm.

Our Spring 2025 issue of WordWorks celebrates the discipline, determination, and (sometimes) courage it takes to move our writing to the next level.
Whatever your chosen genre, we want to hear about the big steps you’ve taken to advance your writing craft, career, or connection. Did you:
Seek feedback from a writing circle for the first time?
Hire a mentor or an editor?
Take a sabbatical or go on a writing retreat?
Join a creative writing class or enroll in an MFA?
Submit to a literary agent or a publisher?
Plan your own book tour?
Set yourself a boundary-expanding writing challenge?
What did you learn or gain from the experience? More important, what can other writers learn from what you have to share?
Your pitch should include a clear connection to the issue's theme and a summary of what a reader will get from your article. We are particularly interested in articles that encourage, inspire, and/or provide valuable advice or information to our readers.
RATES: WordWorks pays $125 for articles of 400–550 words and $250 for articles of 800–1,050 words. We will consider longer features as well. These rates may change in future issues.

Please submit up to two pitches (150 words max per pitch).
We prioritize submissions from FBCW members but welcome submissions from all writers with a connection to BC or Yukon.
We encourage those pitching to the Magazine to review past issues for insight on what we have recently published and the types of articles that capture our attention.
