Diabolical Plots is now open for submissions from July 7 to 21, 2025. Writers may submit one unpublished speculative fiction story of 3,500 words or less. All submissions must include a clear speculative element—science fiction, fantasy, or horror. The publication pays 10 cents per word, with payments made via PayPal or other methods depending on contributor location.
Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but no multiple submissions or reprints. Stories should be anonymous and formatted for readability in plain text. Diabolical Plots encourages submissions from writers in underrepresented communities and welcomes translations (with shared author-translator contracts and split payment).
Diabolical Plots is a SFWA-qualifying market, edited by David Steffen. It does not accept work written or assisted by generative AI, nor does it use AI in the editorial or publication process.
