"Doctor Who: Flux" Series 13 trailer reaction

I wasn't sure if I was going to react to this or not, but after seeing one thing about it on social media, I figured I'd get spoiled on the rest as well, so best just to watch it myself! 😜

Enjoy, and I'll see ya for 🎉 New Who 🎉 on October 31st! 🎃 (Well, probably November 1st for the upload, but you know what I mean.)

Well last chance saloon really for Chibnal and Jodie for me. Plus points from the trailer - well it looks glossy and expensive, theyve upped the production again, thats always going to be a good thing. I like the classic look of the Sontarans, and they seem to have tweaked the Ood just a little (something about the eyes) which makes them a little more creepy, I liked that too. The last thing I liked I am hoping is a good sign over previous Chibnal series- this is the first trailer of this era that doesn't have a social/political message, either right there in the trailer (like the glass ceiling smashing) or in the series tagline. I am fervently hoping that means a focus on characters and adventures rather than trying to 'educate' the viewers on the production teams idea of politics. Lastly it being one six episode story may play to whatever alleged strengths Chibnal has as a writer. As writing episodic television doesn't seem to be in his skill set. On the down side less to say as a trailer never gives you much of story or characters to go on, and thats been the downfall of Chibnal Who so far. It only being six episodes and yet apparently so packed may be an issue, Chibnal seems to be throwing everything he can think of at this one bar Daleks, and I suspect they will turn up for the final special. Plus a new character in Dan to introduce and flesh out (something he failed to do with Yaz, Grham and Ryan in two series and 22 episodes). But mainly want I want this series is just one good episode, as for me Chibnal era has yet to produce a really good episode, an episode that stands out among the rest, that is memorable for a whole generation - with 9 we had Dalek and the Empty Child two parter, 10 had loads episodes like Midnight or Blink that everyone remembers watching, 11' era saw plenty too like the Girl Who Waited, God Complex, a Good Man Goes to War, with 12 we got Heaven Sent (In fact that whole three parter) Mummy, Flatline, when it comes to Chibnal Who the only ones that stand out are episodes that were so awful its hard to believe they got to screen - Arachnids, Orphan and the like. But when it comes to high quality, memorable stuff, I've got nothing from this era. So my bar is so low for this era that anything which is not actively bad will count as good. Above all its the last chance to actually define the characters of this Doctor and Yaz, hard to believe its their final series and I still dont know who these characters are supposed to be, or how they will act other than how is necessary to move the plot along, even if that is completely inconsistent week to week. And then there is Chibnal's overall controversial arc, he has one series to sort that too and make it something more than half the fandom doent feel insulted by. Thats a lot to do in six episodes!

As someone mentioned, the Sontarans this time around are design to be more akin to the Sontarans from Classic Who, similar to how we had Mondasian Cybermen in Capaldi's era. Speaking of cybermen i am happy to see the cyber warriors back. Their heads are probably one of my favorite designs, only more modernized. The one thing that has been consistent with the chibnall era is that the classic/familiar monsters have really good designs: Reconnaissance Dalek, Judoon, Cyber Warriors, and now Sontarans
