This exactly. As much as we love Rem from the outside and he does too It's not like Emilia is a bad person and you also cant choose who you love. Subaru loves Emilia, and if he ran away with ram without having her first in his heart its truly unfair to both. With how hard things are in this world, they have alot of courage for being honest with each other and not running away.

I am a subaru x emilia shipper so I am a little bias but, I think that when Rem said that if subaru did leave with her, it would change him away from the person she fell in love with, i think that is very irl

2021-07-17 06:54:52 +0000 UTCTrue trueeee, I feel like Subaru at the start of the episode was Pre-Rem pep talk tho, and that Subaru was in a much worse head space. After she kinda woke him up he remembered what he was there for and running away is not going to help anything.

I also don't know if it makes sense that Rem declined his offer. I heard Rem's reasoning but it just didn't seem like a very strong argument given how much she loves him and how much she's done to be with him.

2021-07-17 04:19:10 +0000 UTCThis left a bad taste in my mouth because it seemed to me that the whole point of that scene was to let go of the past and grow as a person and start "from zero" but he's also still obsessing over some girl who's over him which imo contradicts the purpose of the scene. Maybe I'm forgetting something or just missing something about it, but atm I think it would have been way better character development and more relatable for him to just move on from her the same way that people have to irl.

But you gotta give Subaru props for not running away from the fact that he couldn't possibly let go of Emilia. That kinda honesty should always be respected. Sufferu still could have led with an arigato first. π
