I think you should skip it for now. The movie is really good but it have a lot of underlying cultural references that you will miss. The cultural references are embedded with the characters, location and even in why things escalated to the way it escalated. Lot to read between the lines...it's even lost on natives who are not familiar with it. So I would say skip it.

Characters are written with such great penmanship that you really understand why would they react in the manner they do in the movie... You would see an arc in even some of the side characters... Top notch story, direction, cinematography, screenplay, acting and above all it keeps you on the edge of your seats throughout...
