Hi Everyone,
It's been a minute since I posted a community challenge! It's been a busy time of life for me.
Anyhow, a community challenge is an opportunity for my patrons to put what they've been learning to good use. If you've been around for a while, you know that I am a HUGE supporter of ACTUALLY MAKING MUSIC if you're learning theory. Imagine how silly it would be to learn how to speak spanish, but to never ever have a conversation in spanish. It doesn't make sense! Making music is like having a conversation. It takes practice. Some music is like a long complicated dialogue and other musical compositions are like a brief "how are you" conversation. These community challenges are designed to be a little more informal and quick - no need to write a whole song. Just write whatever you can in an hour or so based on the prompt. Or keep going if you're having fun!
Here is a little online Rothko gallery so you can get a better idea of what his art looks like.
Post audio (or video!) of whatever you write to the community forum.
Have fun!

Since I haven't done one of these in a while, I'd love to invite you (yes you!) to participate! The idea is to just write SOMETHING! Use your phone, use your computer - whatever you have. One guitar is great. YOU don't need to sing. It's just about trying something. I posted my whole unedited writing session here so you can see what the process is like. Sometimes everything comes together quickly. Sometimes everything is frustrating. Sometimes everything comes together quickly and easily.
