Why the wait to release this episode?
I, Lauren, had hopes to do more editing. Then I went out of town for the FIRM expo. Then Hackgate. Then Crimecon. Then the fam got sick. In other words, life happened.
This is where my desire to edit can be an issue. Sometimes it's best if I throw the less-edited-raw-dinner-table talks onto Patreon before I overthink. This is one of those times. We hope you enjoy this fairly authentic hour and a half convo as we occasionally stumble through our thoughts together.
But here are some episodes to look forward to: Suzanne Freeman! Chad was her publisher and she has A LOT to say. Plus more of my experience at the FIRM expo in Salt Lake City. While I don’t advocate capital punishment, I think Putin would be an assassination I could get behind (in his case, better to kill the baby, I suppose). Thanks for great insight! This war with Ukraine is a slow motion murder suicide on Putin's part. He will do anything he can to win, and I do believe the war will not end unless he is dead or captured. With the cancer diagnosis, he has no reason not to "go for it" and restore what he believes is the great Russian Empire, and be thought of as the hero king. Looking forward to your podcast!!

As a native Russian speaker who moved to US 27 years ago, with roots in Kiev, I've been glued to my phone since February 24. I have learned a great deal about Putin and the people that are close to him. I wanted to recommend a documentary Dr. John may find valuable. It's called Putin's Witnesses, it was released in 2018. The documentary contains original footage from 1999-2000 period and gives you a chance to see the most "authentic" version of Putin. I am especially curious about Dr. John's take on Putin relationship with his teacher that he visits. To me, he seems to genuinely care for this lady and seek her approval. Seeking approval and respect, at whatever cost, seems to be central to his character. Also, it's not entirely accurate that Putin doesn't have any photos with his kids. I wasn’t one who asked about Putin but wanted to. Thanks Dr. John. I understand Putin so much more, I suspected a few things about him and you validated it. What I underestimated was what a bully he is. And both of you…I loved the point at the end about Julie Rowe and her predictions of Russia invading the US. Putin is struggling with Ukraine and the chances of invading the US are so slim. Thanks for keeping me company and giving my brain some food while I traveled through a severe thunderstorm in Nebraska and Iowa today!!!

Also, Biden said he once told Putin "I don't think you have a soul" during a 2011 visit to Russia. He said Putin replied, "We understand one another."

I have heard several different things and wonder what is true and how it has affected him. Was he “made” to be the way he his because of circumstances or was he born that way? You did discuss it, but since it is a “teaser” I bet there is more. I know nature vs nurture again… and the Shakespeare of it all… Makes me wonder how Shakespeare became so insightful… another discussion perhaps?
