Hey Everyone!
We finished our first photoshoot day in the cardboard studio in preparation for the release of the Creatures of the Late Afternoon album!
I built this control room, console, monitor speakers out of cardboard. The last element to add was a microphone, so I built a cardboard ribbon mic styled after the old RCA mics of yesteryear. Corinne added some LED lights underneath the VU meters so they light up like they would on a real old school console! All the faders, knobs and VU meters slide, turn and swing. So essentially, this thing is a giant recording console puppet. I built it that way because I have some ideas to make some videos with it later, but for now we needed to just get some still photos for the album release.
Here's a photo I took to check the light in the control room. Two of the creatures are at the recording console. The one on the left is my good friend and manager Ryhna. The one on the right is Vid, who engineered many of my albums over the years.

We thought it would be funnier to have them wear headphones even though technically speaking you would probably just listen to the monitor speakers in the control room.
The creature heads are made of padded wrestling helmets which we draped with yarn suits. The final step is to add the oversized eyes. Here Corinne is placing some cardboard headphones on them to complete the look.
We tried some shots where the Creatures were dancing in the vocal booth. Here's another light check photo.

It was fun day in the workshop and we were able to get some press photos done.
I also want to do another photoshoot where 4 of the creatures are sitting around the table playing the Creatures board game. But that will be another photoshoot for another day!
Anyhow! Thanks for reading and for the continued support!
More updates to come!
