This tape BLEW MY MIND when I found it! It’s the final callbacks to find Kathy’s replacement (who was Honey’s replacement) as the new “TNT Mail Girl”.
As we know, “Reno” actually got the gig, but it’s interesting that “Rusty” is in this group, too. I asked JB what the story was, and he said Reno was their first choice, but she got offered a movie role and was going to have to miss a lot of tapings. They kinda said “us or the movie”, and she chose to do the movie, so they brought in their second choice, Rusty, and the rest is Drive-In history. (The movie Reno left to do was called “Point Blank”, which I’m definitely gonna have to check out!)
This is really long but I figured if it interests ya, you can jump around and check out the audition highlights. I will prob post an edited version at some point, but for now enjoy this look at the BTS process in all its unedited glory! 🥰

Chronology-wise, I THINK this is shortly before October 1997 (based on the first appearance I’m finding of Reno)
