They Live & Immortal Combat w/ Roddy Piper (HD Re-Do, Air Date 8/8/98)

Happy Humpday, Patreon Pals!

This is what I *think* is my all-time favorite episode from any of JB’s shows. (Subject to change without notice, of corpse. 😉)

This amazing interview aired 24 years ago this week, so I figured it was a great time to revisit it, now upscaled to HD!

Here are the Time Codes for you:

Start the ...

First segment: Before the flick.

Second segment: About 22:13 in, after Nada says, "I'll see you later."

Third segment: About 42:10 in after Nada says, "Beat your feet," and the cop runs off.

Fourth segment: About 51:35 in after Nada limps down the street.

Fifth segment: About 1:00:51 in after Nada says, "Life's a bitch and she's back in heat."

Sixth segment: About 1:08:48 in after "all we really are is livestock."

Seventh segment: About 1:16:08 in after the sweatshirt blackout transition as Frank walks toward the camera.

Eighth segment: After the flick and before "Immortal Combat" aka "Resort to Kill" if you're doing the double feature as the TNT High Sheriffs intended.

Immortal Combat (aka Resort to Kill):

Start the ...

First segment: Before the flick.

Second segment: About 17:18 in after "Thank you, Andy," and then she sighs.

Third segment: About 26:39 in after "It's been swell."

Fourth segment: About 41:36 in after John Keller (Piper) covers his crotch with his hands.

Fifth segment: About 51:17 in after the shot with John and Karen cuddling in bed.

Sixth segment: About 1:04:52 in after Quinn (Meg Foster) says, "You'll be parchment for Mr. Muller's artistic genius."

Seventh segment: About 1:16:46 in after Yanagi (Tiny Lister) gets his neck broken.

Eighth segment: About 1:25:25 in after J.J. (Sonny Chiba) says "Come along" and they get up from the campfire.

Ninth segment: After the flick.

Have a wonderful day. Back tonight with your Drive-In Theater fix (after wrasslin’, like God intended 😉).

Roddy always had the most powerful mullet in show business.

This interview never gets old! Roddy Piper has always seemed like one of the smartest, funniest, nicest guys in the world. He did an episode of Wife Swap that was really interesting because you got to see him and his family dynamic!

Dude, I was watching the video for Cyndi Lauper’s “The Goonies R Good Enough” today and I saw young Roddy and it blew my mind. Memory fucking lane all around. 🖤

Roddy Piper is hands down one of the greatest individuals to grace our planet

I met Piper in the early 2000's. Hell of a nice guy.

Also one of my favorites. I miss Piper's sense of humor. After episodes of Piper's Pit, I would say some of the funny things he said trying to match the way he said them. The interviews with Joe Bob confirm what I always hoped, that he was just as funny in real life and also 100% authentic. What you see is what you got.

Love love love that one!!!

Omg that’s amazing!!!! Have so much fun!!! (Gonna 😢 if Chris loses to Mox, tho!)

I'll have to admit to skipping this one when it aired but my tastes have evolved!

OK, my favorite MVs are the ones like "The Warriors" and "Back to the Future 2" where JB breaks out the charts, but this is one of the great interviews.

Nice! I'll be cheering him on in-person tonight at AEW. I rap on AEW wrestler Angelico's new entrance music, so I'm exceedingly pumped for tonight.

Bestest Monstervision Ever.

We sure could use The HotRod these days. Miss the hell out of him 💔Thanks for another great episode post 🖤

“You’ll barely see me. I’m in a fight scene w Sonny Chiba. You’ll see my blonde hair for a second hahah” (Still worth a watch! 😋)

Just verified w him that he is indeed! Time for a re-watch! 🥰

I believe Chris Jericho said during his interview with Joe Bob on his podcast that he himself is somewhere in 'Immortal Combat' as well, so keep your eyes peeled!
