Good morning!
As I continue my study on spiritual warfare, I read something I knew but in a new way. In the margin of the book I wrote “wow.”
Lucifer was an angel in God’s Kingdom but fell when he wanted to be like God. When he left God’s presence, he still had some level of authority and power that God allowed him for a time.
“Lucifer seems to have a significant ability to disrupt the plans of God and His creatures. This has resulted in one of the great ironies of history - a being who uses the very power God allows him to oppose the God who gave it to him. But this irony is paralleled by another: the fact that God has done the same thing with humans. God has set certain limitations on Himself by giving to humans and, apparently, to angels a certain amount of autonomy that we can use, if we choose, even to oppose the One who gives it to us. “ ~Charles H. Kraft in his book: I Give You Authority
We all have been given free will. Sometimes people use their free will against us and it is evil. The time will come when justice will prevail and that evil will be held up before God to judge. Sometimes we use our free will against ourselves….living for temporary pleasure instead of long-term peace.
And sometimes, we use our free will to follow the narrow path. That is even more of an astounding thing to consider knowing that we are, by nature, flesh and easily give in to things that aren’t good for us or others. The fact that we would choose the harder path with the foresight to know that in the end the narrow path will be best…..that in and of itself tells me that God is still supreme and at work.
Now, the question is…..what will we choose?
I have asked the LORD for one thing; one thing only do I want: to live in the LORD's house all my life, to marvel there at his goodness, and to ask for his guidance.
