Good Morning!
How appropriate that as I have been studying the “Queen” and “King” mentality, that I would get into a Bible study that is based on 1&2 Kings.
As a reminder, Queen & King mentality is the ability to see in ourselves and others the great value God created us to see and be. It is not acting as if we are superior than others, but it is the mindset of being Royalty in the Kingdom of God.
He gave us great authority. Back in the garden with Adam & Eve, He gave them dominion over the earth. That sounds very kingdom-ish to me!
Then when Jesus was training His followers, He told them that they had authority delegated by Him:
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. Luke 10:19 NIV
As we discover in 1&2 Kings, the people had demanded a physical king to rule over them. God told them that wasn’t a good plan. HE was the only king they needed. But, in their stubbornness, they pushed their agenda. God gave them over to their choice and it took them out of freedom and into captivity again and again.
Don’t I do the same thing, though, in a perpetual cycle? I push for my way or get frustrated easily wondering if God hears me because I have made ME the king of my heart and for some reason I think I know best. Uh-nope!
I’m so glad that He is patient and that Jesus showed how a true King should live and that when we make Him the King of our hearts, we find freedom!
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”
