“Living well is an art that can be developed: a love of life and ability to take great pleasure from small offerings and assurance that the world owes you nothing and that every gift is exactly that, a gift.”

This is a very good saying. I have to say that there at times when I develop a sense of complacency and it really kind of skews it’s way it l to a bias. When I complain about not having “more” when I was going through a tough time about a year ago. I was lost and I jumped on my uncles prayer line (he’s a pastor). And I prayed and basically poured my heart out asking god to just lead the way. And in that time to this very moment. He has blessed me in more ways I can imagine, and sometimes I forget about what the lord has done for me. How much it is truly a gift to be in his presence, and everything that happens within his grace is the greatest gift of all. Reminding myself that, makes me take a step back and realize that yes, the world owes us nothing, and every rut we receive. No matter how big or small. Is a gift.

Charles

Yes, it most certainly is in how we look at it!

Hi Rodney, great reflection! I'm happy to hear about your study on mindset!

Jennifer

Yes, I have had all three, The job and financial set backs several times over and every time I've ended up in an upgrade. Originally I didn't see the gift, I moan and grumbled, had a pity party and got mad and hurt. But over time God showed me His goodness in all things. Once I learned this truth my life was much richer.

I agree. I will say, the 3 examples you gave would need an extra shot of faith to get through!

Even troubles can be gifts. The loss of a job, the end of a relationship or a financial setback can move us into an upgraded place if we have the faith and ability to see the change in a positive way. It’s when we have a negative outlook that we miss the gift and spend years in torment not living our best life. Great word Sis! Thanks for the gift!
