Lore Watch Episode 68: Allied Races - Why do Elves have so many issues?

This week our Lore Watchers Anne, Matt, and Joe dive into the mailbag to answer a few reader emails. Some time is spent on the fascinating subject of what happens to planets when world souls are born, but then the subject turned to a…spirited discussion about Allied Races. What’s up with Tyrande and her refusal of the Nightborne? Or Lor’themar, and his avoidance of the Void Elves?

For Patrons, we're happy to give you access to the episode before everyone else - enjoy it right over here on SoundCloud! Note that if you want to you can download it from SoundCloud onto your favorite device. And as always, let us know what you think. Thanks for listening!

I, too, love the spirited debates. And I'm also disappointed with the 'character development' that Tyrande has received over the years. I get that it's not easy to put yourself into the mindset of a being who is over 10,000 years old but since they seem to be able to get into the mindset of the undead and blood elves it's not really an excuse. I do have to admit some confusion about Tyrande being a hypocrite regarding druids after what Fandral did. I mean, Fandral took those loyal to him and they all turned into Druids of the Flame. None of them came back to apologize and were welcomed back into Teldrassil with open arms. Although if that were the case, the burning of Teldrassil makes a LOT more sense.

Regarding Lore Watch Episode 68 and the “spirited discussion” about Allied Races, I found this to be one of the most entertaining and informative episodes to date. While spirited discussions do not occur often on the show, at least not that get published, it is during these debates that huge chunks of data emerge. I've listened to Matt and Joe go at it four times and I keep googling and rereading to catch up. Thank you Anne for pausing to allow them to rumble uninterrupted for as long as you did, and thank you for sharing your perspective before the dust settled. You are all paragons of professionalism., and I cannot get enough.

When you have advanced far enough into the campaign on Argus, Turalyon will have a repeatable quest that let's you recruit champions called Lightforged Bulwark for 900 order hall resources. Turning in this quest will also reward 10 rep points with the Army of the Light. So effectively you can buy 10 rep for 900 resources as long as you have enough resources.

Winterwolf @ Dath'Remar

It's not what I'd call a practical way of gaining rep. You can recruit minions (for mission table stuff) from Turalyon for 900 order resources each. 10 Army of the Light reputation each. If you happen to have a mountain of resources handy it's doable. Ish. -Liz

Were they talking about buying rep with order resources or did I misunderstand? Because I can’t find this anywhere

I love the debates

On the topic of Tyrande: I agree with Rossi. She wouldn't change 10,000 years of HABIT within the ~20 years span of World of Warcraft. She has character growth, not killing the Nightborne outright. But compared to other characters who have shorter life spans (Anduin), her character growth is going to take a longer time.
