Shane Health Update

Comments

And Shane, if the stress of this health situation and your business gets to be too great, don’t hesitate to seek help. It probably doesn’t need to be said, but just in case, mental health is just as important as physical health.

Taylor Martin

Wishing you all the best Shane! You will have my support through this, and a lot of other folks. Focus on getting better.

Taylor Martin

Ultimately you need to get better. I’ve only been a patron for 6-8 months but I loved invisible walls back in the day. Anyway, you have to get better.

Troy C

Really hope they find some answers for you soon Shane, take some time off and rest up. We'll still be here on your return. I went through a similar thing 3 years ago and it wasn't fun. Hang on in there though, the doctors will definitely get to the bottom of it.

Take your time healing up, you'll still get my patreon and twitch subs so don't push yourself too hard

Captain_Falcpwn

Hope you get well soon Shane. If you feel like you can’t work, take some time off. My support will continue even if you don’t post in months. I love the work you and Pachter did at gametrailers and continue to do now at siftd. Excited to listen to the new series with Marcus Beer and David Jaffe!

Still praying for a speedy recovery Shane. Health comes first, family next and the site will be fine. You will bounce back and tho you may lose some subscribers I have no doubts they will be back. God bless and thanks for the update....

Shane, take some time off, I hope you feel better soon. Maybe give up youre studio to save money? Take it easy and rest.

Dont wanna be that guy that say: “I think you might suffer from...”. I am no doctor, but it really sounds like you are sufflering from stress. At least that would be logical after your enormous work load and presure, and that the symptoms go away when you are not Worning and come back, when you are. I really hope the experts can help you, and I will be sticking around, dont worry. All the best from me to you.

Dear Shane, Don't stress yourself out to read this. Like seriously if you're like, needing to rest, and you're reading this right now - good sir, please rest! I'm a newer subscriber. When I heard about Siftd, I knew from enjoying your talented moderating skills during Invisible Walls - plus just the really strong editorial direction of Gametrailers during your time with that company - well, it was a no brainer, I had to subscribe to Siftd. I just upped my pledge to 7... I know like, in the grand scheme of things, that's just, that's nothing. I'm moving this weekend, have to see how the dust settles, and hopefully before March's charges, I can see what I can do to sustain a higher number over the next 6 months. It's hard to fight against an enemy you can't see. It's bad game design. It's not fun. Sometimes it's just how the thing's coded though, you know? I guess, don't let this shitty life game design put you down to throwing in the towel. Whatever this is, you've got the gumption, the strength to weather it out. Looking forward to hearing more when the time is right. Until then, my support isn't going anywhere else.

Sorry to hear, I hope you feel better soon. I assume they are monitoring your blood pressure, because your symptoms sound like it's all over the place..

This sounds very similar to what I had ~3 years ago. It all started with a panic attack about going to work and feeling tired from Monday morning. I was mentally and physically exhausted. Burnt out was probably an understatement. Anyway, what did help was time off, about 3 weeks, no coffe and a low calorie/low fat/no meat diet because I suspected it's liver related. Doctors just told me I have anxiety and sent me to an endocrinolost which also confirmed I have "nothing" :).

Hey Shane sorry you are not feeling well, just know that we are sincerely wishing you well. Take a breather. We have plenty of content on Siftd that can keep us busy while you take care of yourself. Coming back to Siftd. Thanks Shane.

Shane, I hope you feel better!

Did they rule out hyperthyroidism? sounds similar to some of your symptoms, after everything you’ve accomplished from GameSpot, Game trailers, Invisible Walls and now Siftd, a lot of the world is hurting in one way or another throughout this entire period whether it’s in their control or not, at times like this, health is a priority especially if you’re running the kind of operation you’ve been doing all this time and trying to keep up to date with the industry, playing through everything you can within a manageable time frame, sometimes the body has weird ways of telling you certain things, whatever it winds up being, with you every step of the way like we all are, no matter how long they’ve been here only with Siftd or since GT and GS, fingers crossed answers come sooner rather then later.

Andrew Monaghan

Really gutting to see you like this. I know this will come across really clumsily but I am fully in your corner. You know what’s wrong with yourself, we all do, you’re totally burnt out and the aftershocks are piling down on you like a ton of dominos. All that matters is your health right now, rest up, put content on ice if you have to. You owe it to your wife, your colleagues, and your fans who all want you to succeed both professionally and personally. From a subscriber perspective, the main thing is if you are able to keep Siftd going, then how do you change things up operationally in a way that doesn’t eat up so much of your time. How do you turn Siftd into more of a self fulfilling prophecy? Of course you’re thinking about this, I just really want you to be your best you. In my prayers, take it easy.

Please get better, you will be in my prayers 🙏

Thoughts are with you, my friend. I am not leaving. Take the time you need.

Glenn with the extra n.

It sounds what you have is what alanah pearce went through 2 years ago. Don't know if you have her contact or if you're friends with her but she might be able to help you out with what you have. Boss to tell you the truth I think you're working way to hard for your age. You are given more then your all and your body is telling you to slow down. Not saying stop but slow down. Look at all you do and look at other sites and how people they have doing it. Then look at you and go wow I'm doing the job of 7 people or more. Like I told you before I'm not going anywhere. If I can ill see if I can give more. Keep fighting for your dream but also listen to your body. The game industry needs people like you.

It's heartbreaking to hear your distress and what your goin through to be honest. I pray for your complete and quick recovery. Please take care of yourself.

Shayne, I am also self employed. I run a buisness where if I'm not working no money comes in and the buisness quickly 'walks' and goes elsewhere. I know EXACTLY how you feel. A few years ago I had a major health issue. I ended up loosing about 30#, was on my back for months, and even in the hospital for a few weeks in total along with 3 ER visits, 3 urgent care visits. It was AWEFUL. But, you should feel good about this... if your buisness is good, if your content, quality and work product is good, your customers (us) will stay with you and come back for you when you are back. Dude, I know exactly how it is, you look just like me. My doctors also couldn't figure it out. Every 8hr ER visit, every part of my body probed, scan after scan. Eventually they got it figured out and they will figure your thing out. When you work for yourself it is that unknowing that we live with every day, so, we try to make everything in our lives known to make up for that. Then health is something that you just CANT know so when that goes into unknown and the people who are supposed to know don't know. I know EXACTLY where you are. It is going to be ok, you do great content and quality product. I'm sticking it out. If you need help you've got a community here you can diversify into. Stay strong. It is going to be ok.

Symptoms sound like my uncle who was diagnosed with work stress and had to stay at home doing nothing for 3 months to recover. Hope the doctors find out what's wrong and hope you'll get better soon. We're not going anywhere :)

Tailen

Get well soon buddy! I've had similar situations where I felt way off for months and finally figured it out. Hopefully yours is the same and things will be found or fixed.

Hang in there Shane. I've been with SIFTD since Day 1, not going anywhere. Feel better man, rest up

Get better the site can wait your health is more important

Kc Wright

Hard to watch this. Can’t recall seeing you look this low before. I know you’re worried about the site, but your health matters more. Hoping they figure this out and get you back to recovery. All the love. ❤️

NeO JD

Hope you get better soon!

Been here since day one, am not going anywhere. I wish u well Shane, and hope you can get well soon. Till then, rest up accordingly, and if u do work on SIFTD curation, don’t over exert yourself.

Hoping the best for you and sending you positive vibes. Get well soon, man.

I’m not going anywhere.

They keep kicking me out of the ER because they need the beds.

While I appreciate it, it's not that simple. Some of you are cool with it, but a lot of people won't be. Or will never see this video and just think we were slouching all month. It's tough.

Big prayers for you, man. I was just thinking yesterday how much it sucked since all the hospitals are probably already pretty full with COVID patients. Really hoping they can at least figure out what the problem is so it doesn't feel like you're aiming at a moving target. SIFTRs are with you, sending you our love. Get well, big guy.

Justin Hormann

Hope you are feeling better soon Shane - please don't worry about SIFTD and providing content for us, your health is way more important and will keep supporting you.
