I am fairly certain Somalia was communist in 1980. They had split from the soviets in 1978 but the government was still communist though US allied after 1978.

Yugoslavia post ww2 had an interesting point of divergence for alternate history when it tried to create a 'Balkan Faction', or really a Balkan union composed of Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania. Bulgaria was all for it but the Soviets stopped it dead, this was before the Tito-Stalin split in the 1950s.

Hungary is an interesting case. In 1919 it was a communist state, for a short time, but after the Second World War I would say it was rather by occupation.
