Master of My Life

My dear cage cleaners, water topper-uppers and kib dispensers, for the past two months I've been applying for my masters. I'm sorry for not posting, I've just been in hyperfocus mode slash partial denial. I don't like to admit to anyone or myself that I'm doing a big thing because then I might lose courage.  Anyways, I'm done and now you are gonna hear from me A LOT! I have a video due March 1st so I will need your advice. I'm finally doing fiberglass gal, full itchy throttle, let's do it! Some of you may know I've been trying to get a brain explosion to make this video for years. Fortunately, I've had mystery hives on my body for 4 months, so I've gotten into the itchy headspace. Also at one point, the doctors thought it was scabies so I'm deep into the plague and rat lore.

Anyway, here are some things I'm dreaming about for the new year.

HEELS: I pay so little attention to what the lower half of my body looks like in videos that I rarely make interesting or important shoe choices for my costumes. This year I'm going to be a heels-wearing girlie.  Lately, I've been going to many thrift stores and ogling the heels. I also realized that wearing heels is an amazing way to be slutty while also sneaky modest, which you know I'm all about.

SPACE: I'm very obsessed with the path of totality which will occur at the next solar eclipse on April 8th, particularly the people who chase the path and write about the experience.  As Annie Dillard says in her essay, Total Eclipse: “Seeing a partial eclipse bears the same relation to seeing a total eclipse as kissing a man does to marrying him, or as flying in an airplane does to falling out of one.”

I'm burnt out from applications but weirdly energized and excited to work with my hands and make a new set and costume!

Riding boots have heels! I dream of wearing a skirt, occasionally. I forget the dream often, like all dreams. Like a long flowy one but I'm insecure due to my weight. Which I also don't do much about these days. And I've been told if I make the waist higher it can hide my gut. So maybe I'll meet myself in the middle. Definitely skirt and not kilt which would technically be gender expression appropriate. I started this path when I bought a pink sun hat because I love pink, and I got weird reactions from people while wearing it and longboard dog joring. We were skating the Venice boardwalk and she started saying my husky was pretty, saw my hat and switched to handsome. Made me uncomfortable. I don't need other people to secure my masculinity. I feed myself with power tools, I traditionally fit the role. I've learned I enjoy subverting expectations that way. I now own a pearl necklace I'm very comfortable wearing. But I definitely think my next step is a skirt. Oh and an aside wearing rabbit ears is a great way to get more attention than a very cute husky. Did that when we skated Venice another time too. Though I think I'm more of a long patrol hare. Wot wot.

Thank you so much!! I have an interview this Friday ahhh I’m so nervous. I think it might be related to the migraine medication I’m taking, maybe an allergic reaction.

Absolutely wonderful that you are working on your Masters! Mystery rash. Interesting... Can be heat related, new detergent (any soaps actually), body change =new allergy is always possible. Environment change in general. Good luck with figuring it out!
