Last week was pretty draining.
I took a few days "off" before the Update 9 release to relax, because I knew the release was going to be hectic. I spent that time mostly playing indie games on the Switch - kinda mowed through a few of them. Boyfriend Dungeon - which was fun, but short, and very similar to an idea that I have for a future game. Celeste - which I started a long time ago, but finally finished and absolutely adored. Steamworld Dig 2 - which I liked a lot and wanted it to be longer. And a couple more that I tried, but didn't really gel with so haven't gotten too far into.
Then, the update. I love releasing my updates. I love hearing feedback from you all about what you enjoyed and how much you liked it. It's a huge rush and as a creator, it's one of the big reasons I do this. But, with the good comes the bad, and as we all know on the internet, the people that dislike things are always much louder than those who like it. So, just like every update, there's a lot of hate that gets thrown my way when a new update comes out. Almost entirely from F95. Most of it, I ignore, but it does get to me sometimes - makes me feel bad, dampens my motivation, and makes me want to sort of hide away and not interact with people on the internet. That's what a lot of creators tell me - just don't read the reviews, don't read the feedback. That's really, really hard for me.
Anyways, after the initial release, things have gotten a bit better. I had my in-laws down for the weekend, which was... okay. Then I had my Pathfinder game yesterday, which was a lot of fun. And last night I started getting an earache, which still hasn't gone away - my left ear is all pressure and I can't hear anything out of it. Put some ear drops in it, but haven't been able to clear it up yet.
That's about it. Just as a quick note - if you enjoy something that a creator makes, let them know. Let everybody know how much you love it. Creators remember the negative comments 10 times more than the positive ones, so the positive ones have to be 10 times louder. This isn't just about me. Go tell another creator how much you love their work. Leave them a glowing review. Make a post on social media about how much you love it and share it with everybody. Support creators - it's not easy to work years on a thing and then put it in front of people who judge it in seconds.
Love you all! Hope you have an amazing week.
