Great podcast guys! Work is flying by. Ben: FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is great, but I thought the severely shortened timeline really hurt it. 10 episodes over a period of like a day was just way too much. It made it feel like DBZ: just stalling for time. Still a great anime though

Finally finished the last guardian so I could come back and finish frame trap and that ending is by far one of the best endings in video games. Its an experience unlike any other and for those of you who are frustrated with controls I employ you to consider keeping with it, the pay off is not only worth it, its something you will not forget.

I have one thing to say about The Last Guardian that I feel like was missed in the discussion. And I mean this seriously so don't take it as sarcasm. I absolutely love that Trico has a butt hole. I don't know if any of you caught a glimpse of him at that angle, but he absolutely has a butt hole. I fell in love with The Last Gaurdian because this is the best designed animal companion I've ever seen in a game. It's so far beyond anything that's been done before. Try to go play with the dog in Fallout 4 now. I didn't actively try to look at Trico's butt hole, but around halfway through the game he situated himself randomly in such a way and there it was, staring me right in the face. I guess this falls in line with Kyle's appreciation of video game bathrooms. Trico needed a butt hole to make him feel as real as possible and I'd like to take a moment to applaud that decision.

I have 70 hours in DQVII, just about the only thing that will make me pause DQ is a new Pokémon.

Oh man, Kyle. I did the exact same thing as you, coming from Dragon Quest VII, thirty-odd hours in, switched to Pokémon, but I know, when I'm through with Moon, it's straight back to DQ VII. Totally love Moon though :D

Beautiful episode. Thanks for the talk at the end. The things Van Gogh did with paint and Beethoven did with music are comparable to what Fumito Ueda has done with gaming. Ueda is an expert artist and interactivity is his medium. He's the Michelangelo of scultping interactive narratives and The Last Guardian, as far as I'm concerned, is his statue of David.

Yes Blood! After Twitch Plays Pokemon happened, which I followed hard core, I felt the need to go back and replay Red. In honor of Bird Jesus and all he did for the team throughout the adventure I rocked an all bird type team during the whole game. I haven't played a newer Pokemon game than Silver but it was the most fun I had playing a Pokemon game since my initial Red playthrough.

The first anime completely deviates from the manga storyline after a certain point. The character motivations and lore are all different if I'm not mistaken. I prefer Brotherhood over the first one.

Having listened to this now I have to say that the thought of a western Final Fantasy makes my skin crawl. Maybe because Wild Arms 2 was the first jrpg I ever played but idk if this was kyle's podcast and I had the prove it ticket...that would be a take it back lol but love the podcast and everything Ben

Ben, you giving a chance to Trails of Cold Steel makes me so happy, for me Trails series has the potential to become one of the greatest amongst JRPGs if they have triple A budget, and if it comes to world building, second to non, as no other JRPG series were so dedicated on building one single intricate and coherent continuity and lore through out so many (seven and ongoing) 40 hours+ games, and you sir are at the gateway to this wondrous world, wait till you finish Trails of the Sky and if possible Trails of Zero and Azure (in my opinion more important to Cold Steel than Sky but there is no English versions available as of now), only then will you truly appreciate the world of Trails. As for tackling the One Piece journey or other long running series, let me give you an advice through personal experience: don't watch the anime, at least don't until you caught up with the manga, reason being that most long running manga series (especially true for One Piece, which for my opinion only has a hand full of episodes with any good bits in them at all, and most missed the spirit if not the art of the original manga)have anime adaptations that has their budget stretch thin to the breaking point due to their length and filled with pacing issues perpetuate by dragged out action scenes and filler episodes because they can't overtake the ongoing manga, and thus in doing so sacrificed many important elements of the original, (I mean most One Piece fights shouldn't even be possible to animate at all given how fast they are supposed to be anyway), and more importantly much easier to binge a large volume of in a short time, I can finish catching up on One Piece in three days, believe me I tried it before. Shorter series adaptations however can sometimes be quite good, for example the newer Hunter X Hunter series and of course One Punch Man. Anyway, jacked about the new series, tackling Berserk first is going to be a tall order, but you guys should be more than ready, can't wait to hear what you guys think, oh and lastly a merry Christmas to all the allies around the world!

Great stuff. Can't wait for the anime podcast or however it will be formatted. Will love to hear the Fullmetal Alchemist Original/Brotherhood talk since I consider both shows to be my favorite anime. And since it was brought in the Frame Trap episode, the only real big difference (that I can recall) between both versions is that the original FMA series ended years(?) before the manga ended while Brotherhood is essentially the manga from start to finish (does leave out some stuff that was covered in the first anime version). I'm sure there's other stuff I'm forgetting but I still would love to hear some FMA talk in the near future.

I kind of wish the last guardian spoilers were split from this podcast into its own spoilercast. I haven't beaten the game yet so will have to come back to this podcast and I dont know if its just me but I cant see time stamps on the patreon page and only on youtube. Problem with that is I listen to the podcast at work and youtube videos are blocked but videos on this patreon page are not, which is strange.

Ben! yes! FullMetalAlchemist Brotherhood is hands down my favorite anime. The entire show is perfection, and it has one of the best endings ever for an anime. I can't wait to watch it again sometime in the future. Also! Just so you know, the original FMA was released when the manga was still being written,... so when the tv show caught up to the manga (like in Game Of Thrones), the tv show decided to continue but with it's own story..... Years later, after the manga was finished, FMA: Brotherhood came out, and it's THIS version that follows the manga more closely, which is why alot of people say Brotherhood is the best version. I never seen the original so i wouldnt know.
