This WIP is still WIPing! Wipping? Whippiting? Who knows.
I am working on something that will not only be a part of an upcoming comic, but will also become a promotional image for the KFOR part of the BOHICA Blues series. It is therefore much more detailed and taking a lot more time. Above: the lineart part.
Next I start to add my characters and some of the color. The detail part was extensive and took a lot of time, and I did not think to get WIP stages saved, I was concentrating so hard.
It's been a hell of a week, I'll say; as an Intel analyst I have to keep my eye on a lot of things and this past week has been full of all sorts of chapters in the ongoing story of the world. I mostly focus on Kosovo and Serbia (some minor excitement here) but also the Russo-Ukraine War and the greater NATO/EU area, and of course the MidEast-- such as events in Syria.
Then of course the South Korean government decides to go all "martial law" like it's the 1970's again. I'm surprised I got this much done.
Anyhow, this is where I am now. It's actually pretty close to being done, really, even if it doesn't look like it.
Interestingly, this is not my first attempt at this, nor my first choice. Some of you may remember these images from several months ago:
--But I wasn't really sure I liked this version and as it turns out, since I made these images, I found out that this is very much the wrong helicopter. As I have been working with Aviation for longer and longer, I am learning to spot differences in the various types of UH-60 helicopters... and I am also among a lot of people who will notice any mistakes.
So I changed the image to the one I am coloring at top, which I like better anyway-- better composition and better character shots, IMO. Long time followers who saw my other works from the 1990's will know that I really enjoy working with drawing machinery, especially military machinery.
Which reminds me, I will try to get some more EMPIRES stuff done at some point, as well as some Star Wars fanart that's been on my mind. And I hate to say it but the current state of the world has me thinking that I may revisit KGB/Kelly G Brannon adventures again, at least a short story with modern political background sin mind. Maybe.
Until later!
