That’s when I realized that she was not even level 10 and would not be able to choose a class, which made the whole thing moot. Evelyn sat there staring for several minutes, her expression a mixture of contemplation and disbelief. Luckily, she snapped out of it quickly, turning to me with a questioning expression, “Did you do this? Give me access to this System?”
I nodded and went on to tell her that she had seemed to be growing paler and that she had not really done anything since we got here. That’s when she looked around and seemed to become even more confused. Before she had the chance to ask, I explained.
“Derek threw that ball thing at us, and it engulfed us in some black, nothingness for lack of a better term. I was able to extend my Arcane Armor out to cover you and protect. Unfortunately, I have no idea where we are.” She nodded at my explanation then looked at me with narrowed eyes.
“You lied to me! First how did you lie to me? Actually no, you owe me the truth! Tell me everything.” She demanded and almost yelled at me.
At this point, I didn’t really have any reason not to, well everything except the fact that I was a reincarnated here. That’s when I went on to tell her everything about my life. About how as a child I had not really had any friends because I was so focused on trying to become stronger. How I unlocked The System and decided to try and get a class.
I then explained how I met them and my concerns about them discovering The System, possibly leading to demands for controlled access. Then I went on to explain about meeting the Elves and fighting the lich, then coming home and how everything went out of control.
Evelyn sat there, listening intently as I told my story, nodding at all the right moments and proving to be an attentive listener. I had not realized the amount of stress that had built up over the last few weeks until I told her everything I had been through.
Her response caught me off guard. "While I appreciate you adding me to The System, as you call it, I have to ask, why did you invite the Guild Master but not us?" She paused for a moment, her expression shifting as she processed her own words. "From your story, it sounds like you had only met him once, right?"
It was my turn to stare off into space for a few moments. I started really trying to think about why I had just invited the guild master, not only that but just told the Grand Elder about The System, and then in the end even added Evelyn.
I felt that adding her to the system had been the right idea. I mean we were lost somewhere in the world, and we only had each other to rely on to get home. Not only that but I was pretty sure she had been on dying. While I never really took much damage, the damage that I did take seemed to heal faster. Which made giving Evelyn access a no brainer in my book.
The same could be said about the Guild Master and even the Grand Elder. Not the lost in the world or they were dying, but just that, at the time I had reasons I felt made sense. For the Guild Master, I trusted my father completely and he and the Guild Master had history apparently.
For the Grand Elder, she felt trustworthy, and I needed to be honest with her if I wanted to get anywhere. Not only that, but yIgDraSIyl had been putting out that aura that just helped me to feel more relaxed. Everything that I had done made sense in my head, but when Evelyn asked, I couldn’t really say why. At least not with anything other than it just felt right.
“You said that you got a quest from The System to add people. Do you think its possible that The System might be subtly suggesting that you add people, and while at first you had been really paranoid about adding people, all the stress made you more suggestable?” Evelyn asked.
The suggestion at first seemed silly, but the more I thought about it the more likely I thought it could be. I was the first person in this entire universe to have The System. Not only that but I was given so many privileges because of that fact.
“Uhhhhh” was all I could say in response to her words. I didn’t know what else to say. Her words made sense and the fact that I had without really thinking it through added the Guild Master, and told the Grand Elder about The System did not really make sense if I wanted to keep it hidden. Both had been extremely powerful and could have forced me to do whatever they told me to do.
Seeing my somewhat confused and worried state, Evelyn wrapped me in a hug and whispered in my ear, "Hey, don't worry too much," her voice laced with reassurance, a gentle warmth easing the tension in my chest. "You're only ten after all, even if you look like an adult with a baby face.” She said with a smile.
While her words were somewhat reassuring, the fact that The System might have been somewhat controlling me, had me worried. What other things had I done, or choices had I made, that were unknowingly made with The System guiding me. It made me go back over every decision and everything I had done since my talent was revealed.
Nothing stood out to me strongly, but I would have to keep an eye out in the future. “Thanks, Evey, I needed that.” I said after I was done.
As I finished recounting my story to Evelyn, a lingering thought surfaced, one that had been buried beneath the chaos of recent events. It reminded me of another quest I had received, one that I had nearly forgotten about until now. I had received it when I was with the Elves, and I felt that if I had not averted the certain doom of the kingdom by this point then I would never.
Quest: Shadows in Magnalon– The Kingdom of Magnalon is in peril and does not even know it. Currents are stirring under the surface, and factions are making moves to bring about the downfall of the Kingdom. Some of the plots have been found, others have been averted. Save the Kingdom from certain doom. Reward: Void Nexus
Quest Complete! Reward: Void Nexus
Void Nexus: The Void Nexus is a spatial anomaly existing outside of conventional time and space. It functions as a personal interdimensional sanctuary, accessible only to its designated owner. Visually, it manifests as an expanse of shifting energy, primarily composed of dark matter-like substance with intermittent luminescent points. By default, it appears as an empty void, but its environment can be modified according to the owner’s specifications.
Well, I was happy that I had indeed completed the quest and that I had gained that nifty ability. Gaining the ability also let me know that I could allow others inside and that if I was inside, there would be no trace of the portal on the outside. While the space inside was large, and I could change it at will, I could not add beds or anything like that. I could, however, make rooms or a house, which would be very convenient for this trip.
I was a little surprised by the fact that I had not received any experience from the Dreadfang though. The only reason that I could think of was that Evelyn, being the one that killed the creature got the experience. I knew that people still had levels and that they mostly absorbed essence from Dungeons or whatever they happened to get from kills.
I also knew that for the people of this world, it was harder for them to get stronger at first. The way I understood it, at their first revelation the way people absorbed energy was slower than if they were at their second or fifth. This meant that someone could be at their second revelation and be level 20 or so. Then be level 50 and be at their sixth revelation. It all depended on the person though.
If a person was level 20 and had just reached their second revelation, they will have received around 150 stat points. Not including anything they gained from just working out that is. With that said, because they were now at their second revelation, they would gain more experience from a monster, than if they were still at the first revelation.
All this was to say, that if Evelyn got any experience, I didn’t know if making the creature trip and impale itself counted, I doubt she got a lot of experience for it. Which was sad for me, because I was pretty sure that would have been enough to get me to my next level.
I stood up, activated the ability, and gestured for Evelyn to step inside first. The inside was currently very spartan. Just four walls, a floor and a ceiling. I thought about adding a ceiling fan, just to see if it would work and to my surprise it did.
That lead me to playing around with the layout a little more, the limit of the house was only about 1500 square feet, but that was more than enough to make a couple rooms with a kitchen area and sitting area for us and finally a bathroom in each room. Surprisingly enough, I was able to make working toilets and running water, though no toilet paper.
Evelyn absolutely loved the ceiling fans and bathrooms, marveling at their convenience like they were the pinnacle of luxury. She spent several minutes flicking the fan on and off, grinning at the soft whir of the blades, and when she discovered the fully functioning shower, her excitement was undeniable. 'This is amazing!' she exclaimed, running her fingers under the water. The moment Evelyn saw the shower she kicked me out of her room and decided to take a shower of her own.
We did find out the water water wasn’t drinkable; the moment it touched my tongue, it simply vanished, leaving no trace of moisture behind. It was as if the liquid never existed in the first place, dissolving into nothing the instant I tried to swallow.
Not that I could blame her. After seeing her reaction, I couldn’t resist following suit. I made my way to my room, anticipation building as I stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash away weeks of exhaustion. As the steam surrounded me, I felt the tension finally begin to melt away, the heat seeping into my muscles and soothing aches I hadn’t even noticed. For the first time in what felt like forever, I could just breathe, letting the warmth cleanse not just my body, but the weight of fatigue that clung to me.
Afterward, I grabbed some spare clothes for Evelyn, grateful that clothes here self-sized, otherwise, my journey through the Elven forest would have been a very different kind of adventure. Though if I ever find clothes that self clean as well, I would not complain.
I left the clothes for her on at the foot of her door before going outside to grab the tents and, specifically the sleeping bags. While I did not have any beds to put in the rooms, the floor was actually not so bad. I left a sleeping bag near Evelyn’s door and made my way over to my room. Laying out my sleeping bag and falling asleep almost immediately.
Evelyn didn’t let me rest for long. She came and knocked on the door until I answered. When she saw I had fallen asleep, she sighed and rolled her eyes. “Come on, we need to make a plan. We have no idea where we are, and currently you are 25 levels above me.” She said as she dragged me from my room. Apparently, she had been able to leave and enter the Void Nexus because there were now logs in the sitting area for us.
“You’re only ten too you know, you could do with relaxing a little bit.” I said sarcastically. While I knew she was right, about making a plan, I had been going pretty much non-stop since I beat Ravros. I really needed to rest.
“I may be ten but when your brother supposedly reincarnated from another world...” She started to mutter.
My head snapped toward her so fast I nearly gave myself whiplash. "Robert is from Earth too?" My voice came out sharper than I intended, disbelief mixing with a surge of adrenaline. My mind reeled at the implications, a thousand questions forming all at once.

“I may be ten but when you brother supposedly reincarnated from another world...” She started to mutter. Should "you brother" be "your brother" or even "my brother"
