Our Life: Derek Beta Build 0.4 🍋 (PC, Mac, & Android)!
Added 2022-06-22 18:01:02 +0000 UTCStep 2 of Derek's DLC is done and we've gotta a beta with the whole thing! Of course, there's still all of Step 4 but it's great to have an entire section of his story ready to go.
You'll have to start a brand new file for Derek's beta content to unlock, but there is an option at the beginning to skip right to Step 2.
New Content:
- The Derek Moments "Lemonade" and "Boardwalk"
- New alterations for Derek scene at the end of Step 2, for the original Step 2 Moments, and in Step 3 that reference the events of Derek's DLC
- Over 38,000 words added
- There's now a proper Relationship selection screen for your connection with Derek. It happens at the start of Step 2 after the Cove one
- The Moment Selection Screen includes Derek's Moments now, you can change the page to switch from Cove's Moments to Derek's
We did our best with the 13-year-old section of Derek's DLC. Hopefully it's been worth the long wait, haha. Thank you to everyone who gives it a try!

Delete any older versions of the beta you might have, start a new file, play from the beginning or skip straight to Step 2 using the beta skip option, and on the Moment selection screen there will be a button in the top left corner to change the page.

2022-06-29 02:44:07 +0000 UTC1:05 am, just finished reading through all the stage 2 moments again, and really really enjoyed it. Im going to miss Derek in stage 3. Or I would if i continued my current game. lol I can imagine my mc pining over his absence, maybe even following him on social media, watching his games on the net when he cant be there in person. lol maybe there is something wrong with me, but these characters are all Alive in my head so to speak. Like I wonder about things, what would i do in those situations, how would I deal, what conversations would i have, and then they just all sort of play out in broken segments in my imagination. Honestly its a welcome distraction over worrying about bills and work ; p

2022-06-26 06:16:04 +0000 UTCthank you to everyone for the hard work!! i would love more moments with derek (either in his private dlc or in the main path, like buying him a gift along with cove's windchime or him + his bros visiting the park incidentally at the same time as Miranda's party as one such example. tho i do forever love how blushy he gets when you share drinks in the mall scene &&& when you guys talk about you having babysat his brothers ("football like jorge or real ball like nicolas" fucking killed me lmao) while you guys were in the library and whatnot ♡), he's so cute!! i cant wait to see more him in the next update for the development of his dlc! ♡♡♡ (i did want to add tho that it felt a bit weird to only be able to talk to lee about the main-storyline of cove moments? i was surprised the mc couldnt talk about derek's dlc moments. also, when i played through derek's dlc with cove as the person my mc was crushing on just to see if there were any big differences (i dont know if that aspect had anything to do with it, but i thought i should give as many details as possible), there was a glitch in the lemonade-making scene? specifically, i had selected the option that was something like "I thought you were the politest teenager I had ever met", and his response to what he thought of the MC didn't happen, he had no dialogue spoken, but the game acted like he had spoken and talked about how flustered his first thoughts of you made you feel-- even though, to reiterate, he hadnt said anything. maybe that was because i was working on a save from before-derek's dlc-came-out. but yeah, i wanted to mention it JUST IN CASE it was a genuine bug and not a bug i made by loading a previous save. i hope that's helpful!!)

Saddly it keeps running into "difficulties" imagining if it would even work. I feel like Derek has the self confidence and easy going personality to handle something like that, but Cove really doesnt. Cove has a hard enough time with communicating just between the two of us. I cant really imagine him being able to sort his way through something much more complicated like that. Im afraid it would just be asking too much. So my head cannon is to take a page from OL2 and just consider Cove family! Someone who is always there, and I couldnt live without, but not in a romantic sense. Saddly we dont have a setting like that in this game, so its just all in my head ; p

From the parents, to the kids, to previous characters interacting with new characters- ITS TOO MUCH FOR MY HEART!!! I'm so excited to see how Derek's story will end with the Step 4 moments and how BOTH of my sweet baby boys grow up! ... still feel a little more drawn to Cove but I cannot say that I'm not attracted to Derek and his dorky yet extremely caring personality! Hope your move goes well and can't wait to see more!

It’s amazing how these moments helped flesh out their relationship with each so organically. I’m sitting by here now like, “Oh yeah, MC could definitely be into Derek.” I wonder how the moments play out differently if both Cove and Derek are set to crush, or if it’s even possible. I’ll try it out when I get home.

I'm sure you want to move on to other projects but Derek is shaping up to be as likeable a love interest as Cove did that I'd be ecstatic for more moments to flesh out that story. The boardwalk especially has opened up Derek to be much more relatable as a protagonist. Plus, I love that you get the chance to give him a sweet kiss at the end of summer.

The song's about being separated *for* the Summer rather than separating at the *end* of the Summer, but the part about making plans to reunite in the future still fits. And, I couldn't resist listening to it while making the Dating Pact with Derek. 😘💌

I know this is one of the few places probably in the world, where people actually appreciate and thank others so much. Still sometimes I feel like its still never enough. Honestly your stories make life better, even if its only for a few hours here and there. I always look forward to those magical few hours when I can spend time living in your stories again.
