Month Beginning Post: July 2022

Happy July!

The year is half over, but that means there's half a year left to get things done. I'm still in a hotel room after the move and that's alright, I'm fine working from there. I'll be settled into the new place before the next monthly wrap-up. Hopefully there won't be too many growing pains with it.

Monthly Content Plans:

My absolute number one goal this month is the Derek DLC Step 4 script. First, I'm going to finish the remaining 20-15% of the overall draft and then it'll be a race to properly write as much of the actual script as I can.

If you haven't heard the distinction of those terms before, the "draft" is a bunch of paragraphs that note down everything that happens in a scene, nearly all the choices/branches, and roughly what characters say. The
"script" consists of the words people actually read in the game. There's real narration and prose, it's not simply explanatory sentences, conversations are fleshed out, usually some extra choices and alterations make their way in there, etc.

The Coming Soon page for Derek's DLC will launch publicly in not too long. We'll need to run one more casting call for the Derek DLC. I'll do a little programming to add more content to the Derek DLC beta. That's going to be updated this month as usual. We've also got some other writers helping with the script and I'll need to edit those parts when they're done. But that will likely be all that takes me away from my own work on progressing the script.

Development on Our Life: Now & Forever will be paused for July, at least in terms of writing/adding new scenes to the build. Art and music will keep being worked on. But for me, it's gonna be all Derek all the time.

I'm quite excited about what's ahead. I really wanna see how much of the script will be finished by the end of the month after having it be my full focus. Fingers crossed that it'll be a lot, haha. We'll see. Thank you to everyone who's following along with the progress here at GB Patch 💞
