Here you can ask me things you're wondering about for our games or company and they'll be answered at the end of the month an an audio recording (with a text transcript too). Just make sure the questions long follow the guidelines!
The thread will close after December 19th.
Guidelines:
1. Please don't reply to other people's questions even if you know the answer. The fun of joining a Q&A is that the developer can give a direct response to you and that everyone else also gets to hear/see the answer in the end of the month post. Having another player resolve the question in the comments right here might not be what the asker was hoping for. This thread is more about having a good time rather than looking for an immediate response to an important question. And if you do have a question you want to hear about right away, it's best to ask in some other thread or to message me directly.
2. I'm afraid questions about what scenes/choices/art assets Our Life: Now & Forever will include aren't answerable right now. Most of the details are decided as the game is created and currently I'm only writing Step 1. I do know some things coming later, but only a small fraction of the whole game.
3. The questions can't be about more serious/potentially upsetting topics because I don't want those listening to suddenly be surprised with something they might not have been prepared for/want to be confronted with.
4. Please keep the questions here to things that wouldn't be really hard to tackle in an off-the-cuff, spoken out loud kind of Q&A, aha. Questions about a half dozen characters or wanting an entire theoretical situation described aren't super doable in this situation.
You can always send me questions outside of the audio Q&A if they wouldn't work here!

Would they help out or just tell the classmate to figure it out themselves? And would it change if the leads were crushing themselves - would they, for example, try to discourage or sabotage the "competition"?

I have 2 questions that I can remember You’ve mentioned in a past Q&A how you wanted Tams and Qius voices to sound. How do you invision Opals and Renees? Will we be able to go alittle more indepth on our MCs insecurity in step 2 of Now and Forever, such as an MC who loves their Heterochromia/Scar/ birthmark in step 1 but displays dislike for them in other steps. Will it come up again after its mentioned, for example a character telling an NPC not to point it out because the MC doesn’t like. My last question is if you say you have a crush on lets say Ren in step 2 and have the jealousy over the MC on and tell the Love Interests of OL2 while you also have a crush on them, will they say anything? I apologize if these dont make sense I am not the best at wording questions ^^

At this point we basically know from their in-game reactions what OL1's MC's friends think of Baxter disappearing like he did after Step 3 if MC and him were dating. But I'm curious - if the MC was basically fine (or like, missing Baxter but totally accepting of the situation and not angry at him), did any of MC's friends or family try to gently push them to date someone else between Step 3 and 4? Not in a nagging way nor insisting or anything like that, but just like suggesting they could maybe consider it? Like, to properly turn the page or something. And if such a suggestion was made by someone and the MC answered they could never be with anyone else, would any of them get actually mad at Baxter on MC's behalf despite MC being okay with just being alone if Baxter isn't there anymore? Here are my questions! 1. Have you considered hiring another writer to help you, or is that a job you'd prefer to do alone for maximum control over the storyline? 2. What would the art look like if you ever made another OL game (or even 2 more to complete the seasons)? I can imagine the winter game's art being cold and harsh, or maybe like a warm Christmas, and the spring game's art having more bright pastel colours. 3. If Qiu and Tamarack had a "canon" job in the future, what would it be? 4. Lastly, I can't stop thinking about snowboarding lately, would any of the OL LIs be into winter sports at all (especially snowboarding)? What are the jerk's favorite animals if they had to pick? (Favorite can be worded as "animal they can tolerate the most" to make it easier for those sillies) 2. How would Lynn deal with his child being similar/almost the exact same he was as a teenager? 3. Do any of them have a favorite type of jam? I feel like Jeremy's would be strawberry. 4. How many of them actually like Christmas to some degree? (Even if it's only the music, treats, gifts, etc.), and would their opinion be a little nicer if they celebrated with loved ones? 5. Do Jeremy and Pran celebrate Christmas togheter? I feel like Jeremy's parent's would invite Pran. Even if he doesn't get gifts (or refuses them) And OLNF: 1. How would Qiu react to someone (a friend) suggesting they had ADHD? (Since they're undiagnosed in step 1 & 2) 2. Related to the 1st question. Even if they didn't mention ADHD specifically, what about that person saying they relate and try to give them advice? 3. Tamarack & Qiu's reaction to a friend comparing them to a cat? Maybe they have an interest in different cat breeds and compare them to one out of love, haha. That was all! i absolutely LOVE Floret bond and XOD & XOBD. they're all so amazing, i could ask questions night and day, haha. But i tried to keep it at a minimum. My interest in XOD might be a little special (wink wink nudge nudge) and i just love it to death. #1 favorite game. And the upcoming OLNF has also weasled it's way into my heart! Thank you for creating such amazing games. I hope the rest of this and the next year will be good years for you!

Hope you all are doing well :) Merry (early) Christmas for who celebrates it, if not happy holidays (I think that's how it's said in english, I rarely use those phrases so I don't know), also happy early new year :) If some questions can't be answered that's ok, also I don't know if some of those have already been asked. 1 What would the LI for OL1&2 (Cove, Baxter, Derek, Qiu and Tam) think of them getting piercings or tattoos (We can exclude Cove for the tattoo part as he gets them depending on your choices) or if their LI gets one or both, would they think it's attractive or dislike it? Or if they would like a partner who has a goth/e-boy/girl etc. style XD Given I dress as a more "vanilla" version of both I was curious. 2 Is there a chance you get to have a Ice skate step in OL2? (If you can't answer this it's ok) I thought of this because they recently put up the ice skating thing in the square where I live XD 3 This is more me forgetting and being too lazy to go back and look XD How many LI are in Project W (always if you can answer) and what is their gender? Also does it follow one specific age range for the whole game or does it have a aging system like OL1/2? There is a chance those things are probably already mentioned and I forgot or just didn't read through it as I can't always pay the Patreon so I end up missing new posts and being too lazy to go back XD 4 Last question, what would the 5 LI think of a partner with a hyperfixation for FNAF (Specifically Security Breach, even more specifically the Daycare attendant and it's indoor playground or the MC rambling about the messy lore until their ears explode XD, if you didn't play the game and don't know about it that's ok) or Welcome Home (The ARG), Sonic, Craig of the Creek, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Indoor Playgrounds etc. in general a LI with a "obsession" over their childhood/things that bring them comfort as they remind them of their childhood. I have this attachment to anything related to my childhood or that bring me comfort because it reminds me of my childhood even if it was never part of it but is close enough, so I was curious about how they would react to a MC who has a attachment and sense of comfort towards those things as the MC is neurodivergent and find comfort in things like that, would they give them gifts related to childhood things? Since I fall into that category this is pretty much self indulgent curiousity XD

Will there ever be a moment where the 2 li's have to take care of the mc? Like they gotten really sick or broken a bone and no adults were around - that type of thing?? 2. Also, if your mc is a really anxious person and was crushing on tam/qiu, how would tam/qiu react? Would they make the first move on their own?? would they do something special like take them out somewhere? would qiu be really nervous or confident? Would tam give them a note or a gift? 3. Will there be like cute romantic scenes with the L’s? In any of the steps?? Like before they get together? 4. With the jealously meter, is it really pronounced? Or is it just something small to add to the drama and spice? Would it drastically change the dialogue? How would it be different if you’re just friends or have crushes?

(similar to how Qiu struggles with their gender in step 2 for example.) 2) Would the OL1 Li's be strict in parenting styles or more relaxed? How would they discipline their child if they were to do something bad? How would they reward their child if they were to do something good? I noticed in the demo that you could mention that you don't celebrate christmas, which I appreciated: participation in christian culture is usually taken for granted in most media. Do you anticipate there being more opportunities to assert that your character is part of a minority religion, either through character customization options like kippah/hijab or similar small dialogues? When we pick up Qiu's papers we get an option to keep them, is there anyway at the end of the game we would be able to take all the pages we've collected over the years and make them into a scrapbook of some kind and give them back to them? I just think it'd be really cute, especially since they'll write notes on their phone when they're an adult, so it could be a way to memorialize all the time we spent growing up together even if we move or something.

You’ve said that as an adult/after Step 4, Baxter does eventually reconnect with his old childhood friends and would even invite them to his wedding. My question is, how would the reconnecting happen? Would Qiu/Renee reach out through social media/his phone number, if it’s the same, first? And also what would spur them on to contact him after so many years! Would they somehow bump into each other IRL? (I’m uncertain why they’d leave Oregon to go to California or if Baxter would ever have a reason to return to Golden Grove.) I feel like Baxter would be too hesitant to reach out first, but I could be wrong! Maybe he’s encouraged by other people in his life like MC?

The question I wanted to ask previously is now kind of irrelevant since the fairly recent update for the game, although… my MC is transmasc, and obviously everyone, including Tamma, would be supportive. So, at first, Tamarack is really happy she got a girl-friend in Step One and now that my MC came out as a boy to her, how would she feel internally? Maybe a bit upset or disappointed, since her only close and first(in Golden Grove) girl-friend is actually a boy?

My question was regarding the new relationship system that is in OL2, feel free to skip it if it breaches spoil territory or if it's not available to answer at this time; If it was already asked, I'm so sorry! I read in a previous Q&A (Nov. 2024) that the new jealousy system will be purely based on negative emotions, hence the drama and edge that might come with it. However, if it's okay to ask of you, could we have more elaboration on this? How might Qiu and Tamarack show these emotions toward the MC or toward each other regarding the MC? I understand there isn't anything solid down just yet, so if you can only describe what it might be like, that is perfectly okay! I'm just curious about what their negative emotions might look like; For example in Step 2, if MC is BFFs with Qiu and/or crushing, what would their jealousy look like if the situation called for it? --And Finally, how might they go about resolving the conflict? (Feel free to answer for Tamarack too! I'd love to understand their characters more; both the good and bad!)

First question: is there any chance that, in the future, we could choose a profession and have some dialogue option involving that profession?Like, if you could choose to be a mechanic, could any of the adults, or leads end up asking for help, or opinion, with a vehicle and such? Not that you would actually do anything at the time,But just mentioning the profession you chose, would that be plausible? Second question: if the MC had a video game/arcade, whatever, which of the leads would actually be interested in it? and how often did they ask to use it? (ex; they dress up daily and properly according to the month of the holiday, bring treats that match the holiday, or they ask Opal to absolutely decorate-bomb the front lawn) 2: What would be Tamarack and Qiu’s love languages be? 3: If MC had a pet reptile, would Tamarack and Qiu get along with it? How would they feel about it? 4: How would Renee, Tamarack, and Qiu feel about a very gift-giving MC? Such as if they mention wanting something in MC’s hearing vicinity, its suddenly wrapped neatly on their doorstep. (specifically during step 2) 5: What would Qiu and Tamarack’s reaction be to MC appearing at their window at night to talk? So forgive me if I have a lot to ask and as always, I hope you’re doing alright and have been making good progress on the game. Also Happy Holidays this month if you have any plans on celebrating them! 1. How would step 1 and 2 Tamarack and Qiu feel towards an Mc who seems to have the qualities of a child prodigy? Someone who excels in their school work or has an extensive knowledge of something that their normal age group wouldn’t know? Would they think it’s a little weird or would they be fascinated that they’re friends with a genius? 2. Will there be a chance that step 2 Qiu or Tamarack (if they’re set as friends) to at as our wingman if we have a crush the other love interest? For example, would Tamarack have the ability to dare Qiu to kiss the Mc if there was another sleepover? My Mc is completely oblivious to their feelings and I would find it funny if their best friend had to help them advance in their in their romantic relationship with the other person. 3. If the Mc is completely oblivious for their feelings for Tamarack and/or Qiu, would either of them be able to tell what’s going on with their relationship wether or not they’re also have romantic feelings for the Mc or are just a bystander to Mc’s obliviousness towards the person? I have Tamarack set as a platonic best friend for my Mc, and I can imagine how tired she is having to witness the back and forth between Mc and Qiu.

I also realized that Derek's epilogue was shorter than both Baxter's and Cove's. How come we couldn't potentially do both events in Derek's epilogue? If you wanted to do the dinner thing, then plan to go to the water park. If you didn't want to go to the dinner party, your MC could spend the day in Derek's apartment and play games or watch movies, etc then do the water park another day. Was it for development reasons or something else?
