Constant calm & positive momentum
Added 2018-09-01 17:52:30 +0000 UTCFirst time at the beach yesterday here in Canada. Small little place, but it was perfectly tranquil. These days I try to look at any new experience, or any simple experience for that matter, with new eyes, as often as possible.
I don't know the answer to how to always stay calm, nor do I always know how to conjure up positive momentum - but I do remind myself to do so, and thats really the only trick. Here's some more tips:
- Before labelling something as 'the ocean' or 'a tree' just stare at it and contemplate its shape, colour, texture etc instead.
- Become aware of the sensations that arise when you look at something, even your friends/family, as though you are an alien seeing it/them for the first time.
- Remind yourself as soon as you feel annoyed, anxious or sad to ride the wave and choose positive momentum when possible.
- Remember, the only thing you are in charge of is what you think about, and what you do... nothing else.
- Always acknowledge that the only thing you must do in this life is choose. Choose how you think, play, talk, relax and live. You are not in charge of others and especially not what they think of you.
- Take a break and relax by the ocean or in the forest as often as you can.
