Lady Olenna is my dream Grandmother - or at least the old lady I hope to be when I am that age. Even in the books she is a very awesome and special woman.

2025-08-08 18:38:34 +0000 UTCSo "Granny" Tyrell, as the Lady Olenna would have been known in my family, is one of my top 5 favorite GoT characters, and is the late Dame Diana Rigg who I always remember as the very very sexy and badass "lady" British secret agent Emma Peel from the British tv series The Avengers (not the Marvel Comics/MCU movie ones) that somehow in the late 1960s or early 1970s I had access to on AMERICAN (US) network commercial broadcast tv, not PBS/Masterpiece Theatre. After her run on Game of Thrones I was DELIGHTED to find her turn up, pretty much in the same character, among the second season Lady's In Waiting to Queen Victoria as the elderly, irascible (and ALWAYS ready with sorely needed corrective advise on the proper court etiquette) Duchess of Buccleuch (that's "buck-loo" for those of you like me on the left-hand side of "The Pond" who have struggled all their lives with "Worcestershire" Sauce) in PBS'/Masterpiece Theatre's "Victoria". My favorite Lady Olenna moment for you guys to look forward to is her looking out her carriage window at King's Landing probably still 15 or 20 miles away, all you see are the spires of the Red Keep off in the distance, and she suddenly snatches up her handkerchief and covers her mouth and nose and complains "Ohhhh you can smell the SHIT from here"π€£
