They would've verified by this point in the day he couldn't be a suspect since he was at work all night. Just based on the body, they would've known she'd have been dead for longer than a few hours. The uncle called the cops as soon as he got home and found her. As for reporters talking to him, he can tell his side of the story all he wants. He's not a suspect or even a person of interest.
