I'm excited to announce the fourth workshop in my educational DMing skills series, modeled after the chapters of my forthcoming textbook, The Dungeon Master's Handbook. This meeting will focus live "classroom" time on hands-on activities, workshops, and case studies, rather than the "lecture" format that predominated old workshops.

Description: In this month's class, we'll discuss catharsis: the fourth of the six pillars of good TTRPG design. By the end of this lesson, attendees will be able to identify moments of positive anticipation, negative anticipation, and release; outline “anticipation curves” that culminate in emotional release; and create narratives corresponding to a particular theme and release. Classroom activities will include multiple case studies and several collaborative workshops in breakout rooms.
